It’s crucial to think about sustainable clothing fabrics for our planet. These are the types of materials that help us to take care of our Earth and yet still make cool clothes. At Ohyeah, we are committed to good-for-people, good-for-the-planet fabrics. Let’s explore a few kinds of these fabrics and why they’re so awesome.
Eco-friendly fabrics are created in a way that produces the least amount of negative impact on the environment. These fabrics are made out of Bamboo Viscose/Bamboo Lyocell Fabric, Recycled Polyester Fabric, Organic Cotton Fabric. Bamboo, for example, grows like the dickens without a lot of water or toxic substances. Hemp is amazing in that not only is it good for soil, but it barely needs much water to be cultivated. Organic cotton is grown without harmful chemicals that can damage water and soil. We choose these materials at Ohyeah because we believe they help us create clothes that not only look good, but are good to the Earth.
Sustainable sustainableTouring the facilityFree People uses organic and recycled materials wherever possible to promote safe and fair working conditions.
Another option is to make clothes out of organic and recycled materials. Organic materials are harvested from plants that have been grown without the use of nasty chemicals. Recycled materials are great because they are produced from old items such as bottles or former clothes, meaning fewer things in our landfills. At Ohyeah, We are committed to ethical manufacturing. Which is to say: We care a whole lot about how our clothes are made and what they’re made out of. We select organic and eco-friendly materials to protect our planet.
At our Ohyeah, we also pay close attention to superior sustainable fibers. The fibers are durable and environmentally friendly. Some are made from Tencel, Modal or recycled polyester. Both Tencel and Modal are tree based and they’re both super soft. They are also biodegradable, so they can dissolve naturally and not hang around in landfills forever. I love recycled polyester because it repurposes plastic. By selecting these fibers, we ensure that our clothes are not only beautiful and comfortable, but sustainable too!
We make sustainable choices, the kind that are good for the planet and everyone who lives on it. This could be thinking harder about how the making of a fabric impacts the air, the water and the communities for miles around the world. By choosing sustainable fabrics, I believe we can help ensure that our fashion choices aren’t harming the planet or people. We need to all make smart choices that benefit everyone now and into the future.
